Job Overview

A vital component in the mortgage lending process, Mortgage Underwriters assess the creditworthiness and risk profile of potential borrowers.

This role involves analyzing financial information, reviewing loan applications, and making informed decisions to approve or deny mortgage loans. It ensures all loans meet established lending standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Loan Application Review:

  • Analysing and verifying loan applications to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Evaluating the borrower's credit history, employment, income, and debt levels.
  • Confirming property value through appraisal reports.

Credit and Financial Analysis:

  • Assessing credit reports to determine the borrower's creditworthiness.
  • Analysing financial statements, tax returns, pay stubs, and other income documentation.
  • Calculating debt-to-income (DTI) ratios and loan-to-value (LTV) ratios.

Property Valuation Review:

  • Reviewing appraisals for conformity with client-specified requirements to assess the accuracy of property valuation.

Compliance and Risk Assessment:

  • Ensuring loans comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Adhering to lending guidelines.
  • Identifying potential risks and assessing the overall risk level of the loan.

Requirements:
