Career Description:

  • We are seeking an experienced Underwriter to originate new business and drive revenue growth in line with our go-to-market strategies.
About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for originating new business, driving high-quality revenue growth, and ensuring timely service to brokers and clients. They will also be expected to build and grow a profitable book of business aligned with portfolio targets and go-to-market strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Serve as the first point of contact for Liability Facultative (FAC) business, ensuring timely service to brokers and clients.
  2. Build and grow a profitable book of business aligned with portfolio targets and go-to-market strategy.
  3. Originate new business opportunities and improve renewal retention through strong broker and client relationships.
  4. Lead business development and pipeline generation to maintain a competitive commercial position.
  5. Exhibit strong risk assessment capabilities, manage volatility and line sizes, and explore alternative underwriting solutions.
  6. Utilize pricing and modeling tools diligently, ensuring pricing accuracy, exposure reflection, and data transparency.
  7. Collaborate with senior underwriters to develop and enhance technical underwriting skills.
  8. Monitor business plans, budgets, and risk trends, and ensure effective reporting mechanisms are followed.
  9. Support cross-sell initiatives across Property and other lines of business.
Requirements
  • University degree required; law or technical degree preferred.
  • 5–10+ years of experience in underwriting or reinsurance with a focus on the Indian market; experience across other Asian markets is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of Casualty and Financial Lines (Motor and Personal Accident experience is a bonus).
  • Proven expertise in single risk and FAC facility underwriting.
  • Highly collaborative and culturally adaptable; self-driven and accountable.
  • Demonstrated deal-making track record and a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Strong ability to work independently, handle pressure, and embrace learning opportunities.
  • Effective team player and communicator, both verbal and written.
  • Committed to living our corporate principles.
  • Willing to travel based on business requirements.
