This is a key role within our investment team that requires a high degree of autonomy and expertise. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading day-to-day operations, liaising with external stakeholders, and driving process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide support to the Mumbai team, acting as their lead specialist in daily tasks and responsibilities.
- Liaise with fund administrators, investment managers, and auditors to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance quality and efficiency across the team.
- Play a critical role in a new team setup, working closely with colleagues from other locations to achieve shared goals.
- Review financial statements and fund reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Execute investor capital calls and distributions, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Support the audit of funds, providing necessary documentation and information.
- Utilize knowledge of fund structures and portfolio solutions to provide expert guidance to the Mumbai team on query resolution and task delivery.
- Implement strong risk management practices, focusing on building controlled processes and an oversight model that is proactive and robust.
- Maintain up-to-date supporting procedures and provide training for team members, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Research Investment Regulations and Fund Structures, interpreting key points relevant to the Mercer business and summarizing them in a clear and concise manner for training purposes.
- Cover work items for team members during periods of absence, ensuring continuity and minimal disruption.
- Challenge and encourage the team to continuously evaluate and improve existing processes, ensuring value addition and eliminating inefficiencies.
- Lead all reporting, including regulatory and expense reporting, regulator filings, and oversight responsibilities, ensuring compliance deadlines and internal SLAs are met 100%.
- Conduct thorough scrutiny and reconciliation of service provider calculations as part of oversight processes to identify issues and errors.
- Support the NAV monitoring process for the Dublin team.
- Identify and address exceptions related to cash breaks, position breaks, pricing, trade settlements, etc.
- Assist in the Financial Statement audit process.
- Monitor delivery timelines and ensure deadlines are met.
- Oversee team responsibilities in line with agreed SLAs and KPIs.
- Support the advancement of our Operating Model as we adapt to the needs of new client types.
- A minimum of 6 years' experience in Funds or Asset Management, preferably within a leading Asset Manager or Administrator, with a solid understanding of core Fund Operations, including Fund Accounting, Middle Office, and Transfer Agency.
- Practical experience and knowledge of various asset classes, including securities, loans, derivatives, and pooled funds.
- Experience in Private Markets/Private Equity Fund accounting.
- Proactivity and a desire to drive efficiency through a 'right first time' approach.
- Results-focused with a high degree of attention to detail.
- A strong academic background in Accounting/Finance/Economics or a related field is essential.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex issues simply and coherently.
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word, as well as a strong aptitude for learning and adapting to new technologies.
- Strong project management skills are desirable.
- Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills.
