Job Description

The Marine Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operational management of vessels under their supervision. This includes supporting senior leadership, overseeing navigational and cargo practices, preparing for third-party inspections, and implementing company policies onboard.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in marine operations, with experience in managing complex projects and leading cross-functional teams. They will be responsible for conducting regular marine visits and audits to monitor vessel compliance and operational standards, as well as providing training and guidance to crew members.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing company policies and procedures onboard vessels
  • Supporting senior leadership in making informed decisions regarding vessel operations
  • Conducting regular marine visits and audits to ensure compliance with international regulations and company policies
  • Providing training and guidance to crew members on navigation, cargo handling, and safety procedures

Required Skills & Qualifications

For this challenging role, we are seeking an individual with:

  • A degree in a relevant field (e.g. nautical science, maritime studies)
  • At least 8 years of sea service, including 2 years as Master on ocean-going vessels
  • 1-3 years of experience in a shore-based marine operations or HSSEQ role in a shipping company
  • Strong knowledge of ISM/ISPS codes, MLC, and other IMO regulations
  • Familiarity with conducting navigational audits, officer briefings, and managing inspections
