Job Profile Summary & Description:

  • A Platform Operations Engineer supports multiple applications with diverse technologies in an Enterprise Hosted environment.
  • They provide escalation support to various platforms and services.
  • Monthly/quarterly/yearly upgrades of applications in the environment are performed, and work is done in teams to create solutions for identified issues.
  • Effective communication is maintained with end-users.

Shift Timing: Rotational

Support Role: 24/7

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fully functional and self-directed.
  • Resolve issues, manage workload, and balance priorities through frequent interruptions while meeting specific, time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Analyze client/team requests to solve short- and long-term technical issues.
  • Engineer solutions to meet company SLAs and client expectations.
  • Monitor and assist in tuning applications in the environment through project initiatives, enhancements, and integration.
  • Perform upgrades of the applications in the Hosted environment.
  • Provide formal mentorship.
  • High complexity assignments - owner.
  • Moderate complexity assignments - owner (1 or more).
  • Low complexity assignments - provide oversight/review.
  • Lead self and others and/or establish as Product SME and/or specialist.
  • Sees the whole picture and adjusts work accordingly.
  • Mentor others with less experience.
  • Collaborate with Senior Platform Operations Engineer to create and maintain documentation for all production environments and review regularly.
  • Engage with Sr. Engineers/Team to document Standard Operating procedures, design changes, and review prior to installation/implementation.

Required Qualifications:

Typically requires a minimum of 1-3 years of related experience in a professional role with a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field or 3 years and a master's degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.

  • Basic knowledge of OS, Database, and Networking concepts.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux administration and Linux server administration.
  • Thorough understanding of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP, and SNMP.
  • Extensive understanding of Linux, including RedHat, CentOS, Rocky Linux.
  • Strong understanding of web servers, application servers, DNS, and Mail servers.
  • Good proficiency in scripting languages such as Shell/Python.
  • A plus: knowledge of configuration management tools like Puppet, Ansible, industry certifications for applications being supported, and experience with configuring and managing zones.
  • Experience providing day-to-day administration and monitoring of servers, including ensuring Linux Servers are operational, providing file and system security management, log analysis, and statistical report generation.
  • Analyze Security Scans and assist with vulnerability remediation.
  • Good analytical ability (basic knowledge of ELK, basic knowledge of Tableau).
  • Ability to work in rotational shifts.
