Hardware Design Manager Job Description

This is a seasoned hardware design manager position that involves leading the development of innovative and high-quality hardware solutions for air conditioning products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a long-term vision, strategy, and roadmap for hardware design, aligning with business objectives and market requirements.
  • Design and review printed circuit boards (PCBs), bill of materials (BOMs), and ensure electromagnetic interference (EMI)/electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) compliance, thermal management, and reliability testing.
  • Drive innovation in design processes, tools, and methodologies, and work closely with firmware teams to define hardware-software interfaces.
  • Ensure robust design verification and validation processes, mitigate design risks through failure mode effects analysis (FMEA) and simulations, and oversee resolution of field failures and continuous product improvement.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Finalize hardware architecture for VRF/residential AC/chiller/commercial refrigeration products.
  • Complete hardware design specifications, including control logic, sensing, communication, and safety circuits, with clear interface definitions with firmware/software and mechanical systems.

Hardware Design Document:

  • Approve schematic designs and Bill of Materials (BOM) for each model/variant, close coordination with PCB layout and part development team.
  • Design calculation sheets for power electronics, control circuits, and protection systems, updated design standards library (component database, reference designs, PCB stack-up guidelines).
