Job Overview:

This is a critical role that involves the administration and management of DMSII databases on Unisys mainframes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Database Administration: Ensure efficient installation, configuration, and maintenance of DMSII databases
  • Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor database performance, space utilization, and availability to identify areas for improvement
  • Data Management: Effectively manage sets, subsets, and indexes to facilitate smooth data access
  • Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement robust backup and recovery procedures to ensure business continuity
  • Schedule Changes: Assist in capacity planning and ensure seamless schema changes
  • Troubleshooting: Collaborate with application and system teams to resolve performance or access issues
  • Disaster Recovery: Participate in disaster recovery testing and ensure adherence to backup policies
  • Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain security, audit trails, and user access controls
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of DBA processes, configuration, and recovery procedures

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with Unisys DMSII database administration (3-5 years)
  • Familiarity with DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools
  • Understanding of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery
  • Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues
  • Familiarity with COBOL, ALGOL, or other Unisys mainframe application integration
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
