The role of Project Associate for Green Mobility Zone Implementation has been created to contribute towards creating healthy, vibrant liveable urban spaces in Indian cities.

In this position, you will play a pivotal role in managing and developing strategies for cities to mitigate the adverse effects of urbanization through policy frameworks, design reviews, and viable proposal development.

Responsibilities:

  • Low Emission Zones Development: Develop a tailored Low Emission Zone (LEZ) framework for Mathura and conduct baseline assessment of vehicular and industrial emissions in the city.
  • Identify vehicle categories, emission thresholds, and compliance strategies for the LEZ, propose monitoring mechanisms, and assess sustainable mobility solutions.
  • Support roadmap preparation for EV integration across municipal transport operations, propose policies for encouraging clean fuels, scrappage of end-of-life vehicles, and charging infrastructure development.
  • Collaborate with municipal corporation, UPPCB, RTO, traffic police, and state EV cell to ensure smooth LEZ implementation, conduct consultations with local businesses and citizen groups, and support awareness and capacity-building activities.
  • Design Analysis and Project Development: Understand site-specific urban challenges and create or support viable design strategies and proposals for their resolution.
  • Tactical Urbanism: Collaborate with the team to implement temporary design changes to test improvements and gather feedback.
  • Training and Development: Conduct internal and external workshops to raise awareness and build capacity on street design and road safety principles.
  • Reporting and Communication: Prepare regular progress reports for donors summarizing program activities and achievements.
  • Creative Development: Create visual aids like posters and presentations for training programs and community engagement initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master's degree in environmental science, urban planning, or design and/or allied disciplines.
  • Proven experience working on urban spatial and/or environmental issues, preferably in air pollution control, EV policy integration, and urban design.
  • Understanding of urban mobility challenges and policies, excellent research, data analysis, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote location, and as part of a team, strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Responsiveness to stakeholder needs and requirements, proficiency in MS Office Suite and data analysis tools.
  • Hindi and English fluency is a must.
