RPG Software Engineer Position Available

Talentgigs is offering a challenging RPG software engineer position for talented professionals.
With a salary range of $85,000 - $110,000 per annum, this opportunity allows experienced programmers to develop and maintain applications on the IBM iSeries (AS/400) platform.
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled RPG developer with 5-8 years of experience in RPG programming, including RPG IV, RPGLE, and Free-format RPG. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with DB2/400 and SQL for iSeries, as well as solid experience in application development and maintenance on the IBM iSeries (AS/400) platform.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing database solutions using DB2 for iSeries, including writing efficient SQL queries and embedded SQL. They will also collaborate with business analysts and end-users to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain applications using RPG (RPGLE, RPG/400, Free-format RPG) on the IBM i (AS/400) platform.
- Design and develop database solutions using DB2 for iSeries, including writing efficient SQL queries and embedded SQL.
- Collaborate with business analysts and end-users to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and security guidelines.
- Provide ongoing maintenance and support for existing RPG and DB2 applications.
- Troubleshoot issues, debug programs, and fix bugs.
- Participate in system testing, QA, and debugging efforts.
- Design, develop, and maintain DB2 databases, including tables, views, indexes, and stored procedures.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for applications, processes, and databases.
Requirements:
- 5-8 years of experience in RPG programming (RPG IV, RPGLE, Free-format RPG).
- Strong hands-on experience with DB2/400 and SQL for iSeries.
- Solid experience in application development and maintenance on the IBM iSeries (AS/400) platform.
- Proficient in RPG/400, RPGLE, and Free-format RPG programming.
- Strong knowledge of DB2 for i, SQL, and database design.
- Experience in CL (Control Language) programming.
- Familiarity with IBM iSeries system administration and performance optimization.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
