Accounting Specialist

We are seeking an accounting specialist to support our lease and technical accounting function. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience with lease accounting policies and governance controls.

  • Shared service / centralized lease accounting close and reporting process, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal controls and company policy and procedures for the accurate and timely payment / billing of leases.
  • Support end-to-end lease accounting process by maintaining proper accounting and documentation of all activity in accordance with U.S. GAAP and in compliance with internal and external audits.
  • Perform analysis of legal documents and determine lease classification in accordance with U.S. GAAP ASC 842.
  • Review lease classification testing in accordance with U.S. GAAP ASC 842.
  • Collaborate with senior staff on a regular basis.
  • Complete month-end close processes including subledger work in CoStar, general ledger entries, and internal and external financial reporting deliverables, including reconciliations, roll forwards, footnotes, and controls.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to ensure accurate accounting and reporting of lease transactions.
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects and technical research to help analyze or support Company decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lease Accounting: Maintain accurate and timely lease accounting records, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal controls.
  • Analysis and Reporting: Perform complex analysis and prepare detailed reports to support business decisions.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless communication and execution of accounting processes.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in lease accounting, preferably in a shared services environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
