Job Opportunity:

The primary goal of this role is to ensure the security and performance of databases across Cloud and On-Prem platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, install, tune, deploy, secure, migrate and upgrade database management systems
  • Monitor database performance, identify and resolve issues
  • Migrate databases with minimal downtime
  • Provide guidance and support on design, code review and SQL query performance tuning
  • Implement high availability and disaster recovery setups, replication, encryption and index management
  • Monitor system performance and capacity constraints
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including managers, developers and operations teams
  • Suggest improvements for database management, maintenance and security
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends
  • Be available for on-call support as needed

Database Administrator Skills and Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of database programming languages (MSSQL/PostgreSQL/MySQL)
  • Knowledge of backup-recovery, security and performance monitoring standards
  • Understanding of database concepts – ACID properties, normal forms, DDL/DML, transaction logging, log shipping, mirroring etc.
  • Relational and dimensional data modeling expertise
  • Experience in developing migration plans to migrate on-premises databases to Cloud (such as AWS/Azure)
  • Excellent communication skills with attention to detail and problem-solving attitude
  • Ability to adapt to new processes and technology changes
