Job Title: Advanced Database Tester
Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced tester to join our QA team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SQL-based testing, backend validation, and data-intensive application testing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze requirements and design test cases focused on database and backend validation.
- Write, execute, and optimize complex SQL queries to validate business logic, data integrity, and workflows.
- Perform data validation and reconciliation between source and target systems.
- Use Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, lookups, validations) for data analysis and reporting.
- Perform backend testing to ensure proper integration of applications with underlying databases.
- Identify, log, and track issues using test management tools such as JIRA or TestRail.
- Collaborate with developers, DBAs, and business analysts to clarify requirements and resolve issues.
- Prepare detailed test documentation including test cases, execution results, and defect reports.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement of database testing processes.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders and independently handle client discussions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in QA with a strong focus on database testing.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, including writing and optimizing queries, joins, stored procedures, and functions.
- Strong experience in data validation and reconciliation across multiple systems.
- At least mid-level knowledge of Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, lookups, data validation, reporting).
- Familiarity with test management and bug tracking tools (JIRA, TestRail, or similar).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to handle client interactions independently.
- Experience working in Agile environments.
