System Engineer - Powertrain and Propulsion Systems

This role focuses on supporting the design, development, and integration of powertrain and propulsion systems within a system engineering core system. As a key member of the team, you will contribute to the creation of generic system artifacts for new and existing powertrain propulsion concepts, capabilities, and features in the BEV space.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the integration team on powertrain propulsion systems design and control strategy implementation.
  • Creating robust requirements and cascading them to commodities (EDUs/Battery/EDS/BMS/Cooling etc).
  • Developing system artifacts, including use case analysis, logical architecture diagrams, FFA/DFMEA/DRBFM, DVP, requirements, and standards.
  • Supporting the development of new functions through statement of capability (SOC) and feature statement of intent (FSOI) processes.
  • Collaborating with teams to identify and resolve system compatibility issues.
  • Participating in technical reviews and forums to resolve complex cross-functional issues.
Requirements
  • Essential qualifications include:
    • Systems engineering experience, preferably in the automotive sector.
    • Knowledge of propulsion/powertrain engineering, including EDU-inverters, HV systems/batteries-charging, torque and energy arbitration on BEV/xHEV propulsion system integration.
    • Understanding of modern electrified propulsion systems (MHEV, PHEV, and BEV).
    • Calibration and control of propulsion systems knowledge.
    • Model-based system engineering and/or tools for systems architecting.
    • CAE understanding on vehicle, propulsion, and sub-systems.
    • Applied test cases and DoE for HIL, PIL, VIL, and vehicle environment knowledge.
    • Data analytics from CAE and physical testing skills.
    • 8D issue resolution and data statistics 6 sigma methods understanding.
  • Desirable qualifications include:
    • Good academic background with strong motivation to excel in the electrified powertrain domain.
    • Ability to enable speed in decision-making by establishing alignment, clarity, resources, and sense of urgency.
