Backend Systems Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Backend Systems Engineer to design, build and scale our backend systems with a primary focus on Python and Django.

The ideal candidate will have experience working on web applications using modern software engineering processes and expertise in Python and the Django web framework.

The successful candidate will lead technical design discussions, own backend service architecture decisions and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, secure and high-performance backend services that power our platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and maintain robust, scalable backend systems using Python and Django.
  • Lead technical design discussions and own backend service architecture decisions.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers and product managers to define user experiences.
  • Drive best practices for backend development including testing and code reviews.
  • Evaluate and implement new tools, technologies and frameworks to improve engineering efficiency.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of professional experience working on web applications using modern software engineering processes.
  • Deep expertise in Python and the Django web framework.
  • Strong debugging skills with experience handling complex database performance issues.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly.
