Strategic Research Investment Specialist

 

Role Overview:
  • Proactively discover and evaluate DeepTech startups and founders across India's academic and research ecosystem, identifying opportunities for strategic investment.
  • Evaluate technology readiness, business models, IP, and founder-market fit to inform investment decisions.
  • Support technical and commercial due diligence in collaboration with domain experts to ensure thorough understanding of investment opportunities.
  • Track trends in science-based innovation and breakthrough technologies to stay ahead of the market.
Responsibilities:Sourcing & Research:
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including technology incubators, accelerators, and bankers, to identify potential investment opportunities.
  • Conduct market landscaping, sector mapping, and pipeline development to identify areas of growth and opportunity.
Due Diligence:
  • Prepare detailed investment memos and present findings to the investment committee, providing data-driven recommendations.
Portfolio Support:
  • Work closely with founders to track milestones, financials, and fundraising readiness, providing support and guidance as needed.
  • Assist in building post-investment value creation plans, ensuring long-term success of portfolio companies.
Fund Operations:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date internal databases, tracking deal flow, portfolio performance, and LP reporting inputs.

 

Requirements:
  • A degree in a relevant field, such as science, engineering, finance, economics, or business; candidates with dual exposure (e.g., engineering + MBA/finance) are strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical, research, and communication skills, with ability to distill complex information into actionable insights.
  • Understanding of finance, financial modeling, and valuation skills, with ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
  • Experience or interest in DeepTech sectors, including understanding TRL stages and commercial viability of research, is highly desirable.
