Oracle DBA Role Summary

Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator to design, deploy and manage our on-premises and cloud-based Oracle databases. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Oracle administration, expertise in AWS services, particularly AWS RDS Oracle/Aurora and DMS, as well as proficiency in infrastructure as code tools like Terraform, scripting languages such as Python, Java script, Bash, PowerShell, and experience with serverless computing using AWS Lambda functions.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Design and implement hybrid cloud database solutions aligned with business requirements.

  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Python, Bash, Ansible, PowerShell and Terraform to automate the provisioning and configuration of a hybrid cloud database environment.

  • Migrate on-premises databases to AWS using DMS, DMS CDC and development custom CDC scripts.

  • Monitor and maintain the health, performance, and security of a hybrid cloud database environment.

  • Implement cost optimization strategies and ensure efficient utilization of database resources.

  • Perform database migrations, upgrades, and patching activities with minimal downtime and risk.

  • Implement and manage database backups, replication, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.

  • Continuously improve database infrastructure and architecture to support evolving business needs and best practices.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; or equivalent work experience.

Experience: Proven working experience as a SQL Server/Oracle Database Administrator, with at least 5 years of hands-on experience with Oracle and Oracle RAC. Candidates with knowledge or experience with AWS Cloud environments are preferred.

Skills: Solid understanding of Oracle performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting techniques. Experience with database security principles and best practices, including encryption, access controls, and compliance. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues in hybrid cloud environments. Experience with agile methodologies.
