Chef de Partie Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct, coach and support team members.
  • Maintain excellent food knowledge and culinary terms.
  • Read, understand and prepare company recipes by maintaining quality and consistency in taste.
  • Work efficiently and productively completing tasks as assigned.
  • Coordinate and supervise team members assigned to their section assign and delegate tasks accordingly.
  • Undertake recipe reviews daily and maintain recipe folders in immaculate condition.
  • Responsible for follow-through on requests within the area of responsibility received from supervisors or managers on duty.
  • Control production levels and recommend ideas for improvements and better cost controlling.
  • Prepare daily electronic food requisitions needed for section production and countercheck deliveries for accuracy.

Financial Responsibilities:

  • Ensure cost containment through proper use handling and maintenance of records reports supplies and equipment.
  • Identify potential expense reductions through cost control.
  • Analyze operational problems and establish controls.
  • Review timesheets and forward them to the Executive Chef for approval.
  • May prepare various reports and letters utilizing personal computer systems and equipment.
  • Ensure items are requisitioned in correct quantities within acceptable timeframes and in accordance with established control procedures.

Motivational Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage assigned workstation functions.
  • Monitor assignment of duties and responsibilities to staff.
  • Oserve and evaluate staff and work procedures to ensure quality standards and service are met.
  • Make recommendations regarding personnel actions such as new hire requests and discharges to ensure adequate and continuous staffing.
  • Inspect workstations work areas equipment etc to ensure efficient service and conformance to standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Chef de Partie in a high-volume restaurant kitchen.
  • Strong knowledge of classical French cuisine and modern cooking techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
