Job Title: Local Controller

About the Role:

The Local Controller will be responsible for overseeing accounting operations for our global shared services center in Hyderabad, India. This role involves managing month-end close processes, ensuring compliance with local accounting standards, and maintaining financial controls. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting expertise, attention to detail, and leadership skills to guide the team in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure local statutory and tax compliance for the legal entities, including statutory audits, tax, and local compliances, balance sheet and profit loss GL reconciliations, and internal controls.
  • Follow timely month-end close processes in line with LSEG's global reporting timetable, reviewing and ensuring critical GL accounts are reconciled to underlying documentation, transactions are accounted accurately in line with ORBCOMM's accounting policies and local accounting policies.
  • Work with various business partners to ensure legal entities are accurately, completely, and timely accounted for in the enterprise systems, as well as to ensure good controls and underlying processes are in place.
  • Analyze all balance sheet and profit loss accounts on a periodic basis.
  • Liaise with auditors on statutory audits.
  • Analyze quarter-on-quarter or year-on-year variances and present meaningful observations.
  • In conjunction with the Tax Department, complete tax packs, book tax provisions, and monitor tax account movements.
  • In conjunction with the Transfer Pricing Department, review quarterly calculations for Group books and perform true-up calculations for local books.

Requirements:

  • Accounting graduates with core prior experience in specific areas.
  • MBA preferred.
  • Graduates with 5-10 years of experience in finance and accounting functions.
  • Strong accounting background and good understanding of IFRS and GAAP.
  • Experience participating in audits of large to medium-scale organizations preferable.
  • Understanding of tax and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Efficient work ethics with a proven track record and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Clear and effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver under pressure.
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and responsiveness, technology savvy.
  • Fluent English and speaking/writing.
