Social Media Editor

We are seeking a talented and creative Social Media Editor to lead our engagement strategies across platforms.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of social media trends, audience behavior, and digital storytelling. They will be responsible for enhancing our presence on various social media platforms, driving engagement, and growing our online audience.

  • Job Responsibilities:
    1. Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with our editorial goals.
    2. Curate, create, and schedule engaging content across all social media platforms.
    3. Collaborate with the editorial team to repurpose and promote news articles, opinion pieces, interviews, features, and multimedia content relevant to current affairs, politics, education, careers, and culture.
  • Audience Engagement:
    1. Monitor social media channels for trending topics, breaking news, and reader engagement.
    2. Respond to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely and professional manner.
    3. Foster a community around our social media presence, encouraging reader interaction, participation in polls, discussions, and feedback.
  • Analytics & Reporting:
    1. Track and analyze key social media metrics, including engagement rates, follower growth, and traffic to our website.
    2. Prepare regular reports on social media performance and provide actionable insights to the editorial team.
    3. Use data-driven approaches to optimize content and posting strategies.
  • Brand Voice & Compliance:
    1. Maintain a consistent brand voice across all social media platforms.
    2. Ensure all content is in compliance with journalistic standards and ethical guidelines.
    3. Stay updated on the latest social media policies and platform changes.
  • Collaboration & Innovation:
    1. Work closely with the design and video teams to produce high-quality visuals and multimedia content for social media.
    2. Explore and implement new tools and technologies to enhance our social media presence.
    3. Lead social media campaigns around special events, regional features, youth initiatives, interviews, or innovations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in social media management, preferably within the news/media or education industry.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficiency in social media management tools like Hootsuite, Buffer, or Sprout Social.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and web traffic metrics.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics, etc.
  • Creative thinking with a strong sense of newsworthiness and timing.

Preferred Skills:

  • Fluency in Kannada is a must.
  • Experience in digital journalism and content creation.
  • Video editing and graphic design skills.
  • Understanding of Karnataka's media and educational landscape, and youth audience preferences.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of other Indian languages is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Creativity and an eye for detail.
