About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Solar Designer with expertise in SketchUp to join our design team. The ideal candidate will have experience creating 2D and 3D solar rooftop designs, modeling solar panels, mounting structures, and rooftop obstacles accurately.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop accurate 2D and 3D rooftop solar designs in SketchUp.
  • Create precise models of solar panels, mounting structures, rooftop elements, and obstacles using SketchUp.
  • Design panel layouts that meet technical and structural requirements using the mounting structure library.
  • Identify and incorporate rooftop obstacles into the design.
  • Make decisions on cleaning access, maintenance overhangs, and optimal panel placement.
  • Create multiple views and scenes to communicate design intent.

Requirements:

  • Experience in SketchUp solar design for rooftop PV projects.
  • Strong understanding of rooftop solar project requirements, shading considerations, and structural layouts.
  • Ability to interpret technical inputs and create workable models.
  • Familiarity with solar mounting structures and ability to apply them within designs.
  • Attention to detail for accurate modeling and measurements.
  • Good visualization skills for professional design presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative on minor design decisions.
  • Strong communication skills for internal team coordination.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Sketchup and Skalion.
  • Knowledge of solar engineering basics (tilt, azimuth, orientation, shading, generation estimates).
