Lead Investigations Team and Drive Compliance

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Compliance Manager, where you'll be responsible for leading a team of investigators in monitoring and analyzing financial transactions to prevent money laundering and other financial crimes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate and report on suspicious financial activities, ensuring compliance with anti-money laundering laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to enhance the alert investigation process.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in relevant laws, guidelines, and regulations, and communicate these changes to the investigation team.
  • Collaborate with auditors and regulators to minimize money-laundering risks to our clients' businesses.
  • Provide training, mentoring, and guidance to the investigation team to ensure they're equipped to handle complex investigations.
  • Ensure the investigation team operates within service levels, KPIs, and regulatory best practices.
  • Arrange training and certification programs for the investigation team to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Review and complete risk assessments as required.
  • Maintain and update knowledge of anti-money laundering compliance rules, regulations, laws, and best practices.
  • Lead anti-money laundering compliance training sessions for the team.
  • Oversee the investigation team's performance and provide feedback for improvement.
  • Collaborate with HR to identify training needs and assist with the hiring process.
  • Conduct training for new hires and complete employee and performance reviews.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in financial crime investigations.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Previous experience in a regulated financial institution is desirable but not compulsory.
  • Previous experience as a QC/QA process lead.
  • Experience in working financial crime compliance investigation processes like Screening, Transaction Monitoring, KYC Remediation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • BA/BSc in a relevant field required.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and learn quickly.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of anti-money laundering laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to report and present findings.
  • Adept with using software to analyze and gather data.
  • Highly organized and able to work under pressure to specific deadlines.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to train, mentor, and guide other team members.
  • Compliance-related accreditations or qualifications preferable (e.g., CAMS, ICA, CFE, etc.).
  • Thorough understanding of the local & Intl regulatory environment.
  • Fluent spoken and written English is a must.
  • Professional manner with the ability to articulate and influence by identifying accurate compliance requirements to all stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity and discretion, handling confidential information.
  • Efficient and logical approach to problem-solving.
