Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating market, credit, operational, liquidity, and regulatory risks within an investment management or financial services organization.

Risk Management Expertise
  • 7-10 years of experience in risk management, preferably with a strong background in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of risk strategies and support in implementing them across various portfolios.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) in:

Risk Identification and Assessment
  • Conducting thorough analyses of potential risks including market, credit, operational, liquidity, and regulatory risks.
  • Evaluating investment portfolios to assess exposure to various risk factors.
Risk Mitigation
  • Developing and implementing effective risk mitigation strategies and supporting their implementation in systems.
  • Collaborating with the investment team to ensure risk considerations are incorporated into portfolio decisions.
  • Implementing solutions to ensure the investment of model portfolios for individual clients is effective and outliers are flagged for review and action.
Change Management
  • Contributing to the review of new products, processes, and activities, ensuring they align with risk management policies.
Investment Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensuring all risk management activities adhere to relevant regulations and internal policies.
  • Reviewing evolving regulatory changes and implementing them as appropriate.
Risk Monitoring and Reporting
  • Preparing detailed risk reports for senior management, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Developing risk models and stress-testing scenarios to measure potential impacts on the portfolio.
  • Continuously monitoring market conditions, investment trends, and risk exposures.
Operational Risk and Internal Audit
  • Supporting the Chief Risk Officer in Operational Risk and Internal Audit engagements.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field (Master's degree or professional certifications such as FRM, CFA are advantageous).
  • 7-10 years of experience in risk management, preferably within an investment management or financial services organization.
  • Candidates with investments/analytics backgrounds are suitable.
  • Prior experience in Wealth Management, Mutual Funds, PMS, or Alternate Investments is preferred.

Required Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills with experience in using risk models, quantitative analysis, and stress testing.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex risk information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in risk management software and tools such as Bloomberg, FACTSET, Barra, etc.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Report writing and documentation capabilities.
  • Sound knowledge of key regulations: SEBI - Wealth Managers, RIA, Mutual Funds, etc.
  • Understanding of the regulatory landscape applicable to both WMC and AMC in India is desirable.
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding of investment markets and ex-ante portfolio risk management techniques, to be an effective risk manager for multi-asset portfolio solutions.
  • Prior experience interacting with SEBI on risk management topics is an added advantage.
