Job Title: Physical Design Engineer

Our company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physical Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing complex integrated circuits using advanced technologies such as 28nm/16nm design nodes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform pre-layout Static Timing Analysis (STA) to ensure feasibility and timing constraint validation
  • Conduct chip/block-level floorplanning and pin assignment
  • Review top-level/block-level clock specifications for completeness and feasibility
  • Handle all physical design tasks including placement, timing optimization, clock tree synthesis, and routing
  • Perform sign-off tasks such as RC extraction, static timing analysis, IR drop analysis, and physical verification
  • Present technical information to customers during meetings

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • At least 10 years of experience in ASIC physical design with expertise in EDA tools like ICC2/Innovus
  • Strong scripting skills in languages such as Perl, Tcl, or Python
  • Good understanding of ASIC frontend design principles
  • Experience in both flat and hierarchical layouts
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze and resolve physical design issues related to library, timing constraints, or CAD tools
  • Experience with power analysis and IR-drop tools such as PrimePower/Redhawk and Static Timing Analysis (Primetime)
  • Expert handling of Verilog HDL based netlists and physical design libraries
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to explain complex processes to customers during meetings
