We are a special school in Chennai, dedicated to providing special education and vocational training for children and adults with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, and Down Syndrome.

We offer pre-vocational and vocational training programmes, including the NIOS curriculum, supported by a multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation professionals providing physiotherapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy.

Job Description:

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Physiotherapist to join our team, specifically to work with students who have learning difficulties. This role is crucial in providing specialized therapeutic support to enhance the well-being and development of our pupils.

• Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments for children with diverse needs (e.g. cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, Down syndrome, ASD with motor delay).
• Develop, implement, and review individualized treatment plans (ITPs) and therapy goals in collaboration with teachers, parents, and other health professionals.
• Deliver 1:1 and group physiotherapy sessions tailored to each child's developmental level and physical needs.
• Provide support for physical access and mobility within the school environment, including recommending adaptations and assistive equipment.
• Monitor progress and outcomes using evidence-based tools and update care plans accordingly.
• Support pupils with postural management programs, mobility aids, orthotics, and safe handling strategies.
• Work closely with teaching staff, occupational therapists, speech & language therapists, and school nurses.
• Contribute to multi-disciplinary team meetings, reviews, and transition planning.
• Maintain accurate clinical records, risk assessments, and reports in line with professional standards.
• Provide training to school staff and families on physiotherapy programs, manual handling, and positioning techniques.

• At least 3 years of experience working with children and adults with multiple disabilities
• Degree in Physiotherapy (BSc or MSc) and HCPC registration (Health and Care Professions Council)
• Manual Handling and Safeguarding Children
• Knowledge of conditions affecting motor development and experience with specialist equipment (e.g. standing frames, gait trainers)
