The role of an Engineering Operations Manager involves overseeing the day-to-day activities related to the maintenance and upkeep of a building's physical plant. This includes managing equipment, refrigeration systems, HVAC units, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems.

To ensure regulatory compliance, you will be responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of facility regulations and safety standards. This may involve developing specifications and requirements for service contracts and administering such contracts to support building needs.

As part of your duties, you will oversee and direct the maintenance of grounds, guestrooms, public space, restaurants, property vehicles, and recreational facilities. You will also be responsible for developing a long-term plan for preventative maintenance and asset protection, and overseeing the execution of this plan.

Additionally, you will develop project plans in accordance with renovation or new construction needs, and contact contractors for bids and supervise construction to ensure timely completion of projects within budgetary guidelines.

You will work closely with external customers, including city building/zoning department, fire prevention bureau, and vendors, to ensure effective communication and cooperation.

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining property life safety systems, including fire fighting equipment, sprinkler systems, and alarm systems
  • Ensuring that building and equipment licenses and certifications are current
  • Managing parts and equipment inventory
  • Selecting and ordering new equipment, supplies, and furnishings

This is a key leadership role that requires strong management skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

A successful candidate will have a strong background in engineering and maintenance, with experience in managing teams and budgets. They will also possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in a relevant field, such as building and construction, engineering, or mechanics, and will be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of maintenance operations and management principles.

Core qualifications for the role include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; 3 years' experience in engineering and maintenance or related field preferred
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited university in relevant field preferred
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing systems
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in team-based environment
