DMSII Database Administrator Position

We are seeking a skilled professional to fill the role of DMSII Database Administrator. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in Unisys DMSII database administration, with a solid understanding of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery.

  • Primary Responsibilities:
  • Installation, configuration, and management of DMSII databases for optimal performance and reliability.
  • Monitoring database performance, space utilization, and availability on Unisys mainframes to ensure seamless operations.
  • Managing sets, subsets, and indexes for efficient data access and retrieval.
  • Handling database backups, journals, and roll-forward recovery procedures to prevent data loss.
  • Supporting schema changes and performing database reorganizations as required to maintain data integrity.
  • Collaborating with application and system teams to troubleshoot performance or access issues and implement solutions.
  • Participating in disaster recovery testing and ensuring compliance with backup policies to safeguard critical data.
  • Implementing and maintaining security, audit trails, and user access controls to protect sensitive information.
  • Documenting DBA processes, configuration, and recovery procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration.
  • Familiarity with DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools.
  • Understanding of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery.
  • Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues.
  • Knowledge of COBOL, ALGOL, or other Unisys mainframe application integration.
  • Familiarity with batch jobs, JCL equivalents, and operational support tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience as a DMSII DBA or Unisys Mainframe DBA.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
