Mainframe Storage System Engineer Role

We are seeking a skilled Mainframe Storage System professional to fill this key infrastructure position. As a crucial member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability, reliability, and performance of our storage infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, Configure, and Maintain: Mainframe storage subsystems, ensuring compatibility, performance, and reliability.
  • Perform Storage Capacity Planning: And provisioning to meet current and future storage requirements.
  • Configure and Manage: Storage management software and utilities to automate storage administration tasks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Monitor Storage Performance: And resource utilization, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and optimizing data placement.
  • Implement Disaster Recovery: And data replication solutions for Mainframe storage systems.
  • Collaborate with Teams: To support data backup and recovery operations and data migration projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, and/or equivalent military experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in Mainframe storage subsystems, architecture, and management.
  • Experience with storage management software and utilities such as DFSMS, DFSMSdss, and DFSMSrmm.
  • Experience with storage virtualization technologies and concepts, including DASD, VTS, and SAN/NAS storage provisioning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • IBM Certified Specialist - Storage Technical V2 or equivalent certification in Mainframe storage administration.
  • Experience with Mainframe virtualization technologies such as z/VM and z/Linux.
