Job Title: Data Engineer for Advanced Analytics

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced data engineer to join our team as we embark on an exciting journey in advanced analytics.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Server Preparation: Ensure that target servers meet the system requirements for Posit products, including OS, CPU, RAM, and disk space.
  • Network Configuration: Configure network settings for repositories and allow inbound/outbound traffic as needed.
Installation of Posit Workbench:
  • R, Python, and Quarto Installation: Install the required R, Python, and Quarto versions used by the team.
  • Posit Workbench Package Installation: Download and install the Posit Workbench package for the relevant operating system.
  • Configuration and Setup: Configure Workbench through configuration files, setting up users, session management, resource limits, etc.
  • Service Startup and Testing: Start the Workbench service and ensure it runs on startup, then test access through a web browser.
Installation of Posit Connect:
  • Posit Connect Package Installation: Download and install the Posit Connect package for the relevant operating system.
  • Configuration File Editing: Edit the connect.gcfg configuration file to set up server URL, authentication methods, email notifications, and storage options.
  • SSL Certificate Configuration: Configure SSL certificates for secure HTTP connections.
  • Service Startup and Testing: Start the Posit Connect service and ensure it runs on startup, then test content publishing from RStudio to Connect.
Installation of Posit Package Manager:
  • Package Manager Installation: Download and install the Posit Package Manager package for the relevant operating system.
  • Repository Setup: Set up CRAN, Bioconductor, and custom package repositories in the Package Manager configuration.
  • Access Controls: Set up access controls, including user authentication and permissions.
  • Service Startup and Testing: Start the Posit Package Manager service and ensure it runs on startup, then test access through a web browser and client R environment configuration.
Ongoing Maintenance:
  • Regular Updates: Regularly apply updates and patches to Posit products and dependencies.
  • License Monitoring: Monitor license usage and renew licenses as needed.
  • Support Plan: Establish a support plan either internally or via Posit support.
