Database Administrator Role

The primary function of a Database Administrator is to ensure the smooth operation and optimal performance of databases. This includes deploying, maintaining, and monitoring database systems to guarantee high availability and scalability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy and maintain MongoDB/Atlas databases ensuring high uptime and security.
  • Develop detailed documentation on database design, architecture, and setups to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  • Establish procedures for backup/recovery and disaster recovery to minimize data loss and downtime.
  • Administer MongoDB to achieve maximum availability and performance through sharding, indexing, and replica sets configuration.
  • Design and implement operational infrastructure to support database operations, automating tasks where possible.
  • Develop and enforce database security protocols to protect sensitive data.
  • Manage user access and permissions, creating and assigning roles as needed.
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and standards to continuously improve database management skills.
  • Provide expert-level technical support to users via incident problem management tools.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in MongoDB administration.
  • Strong understanding of database design and architecture principles.
  • Knowledge of backup and recovery procedures to ensure business continuity.
  • Ability to design and implement efficient sharding and indexing strategies.
  • Experience with replica sets and patch upgrades to optimize database performance.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
