OpenShift Virtualization Expert Wanted

We're looking for an experienced professional to lead our team in managing and migrating workloads from VMware to Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization.

The ideal candidate will be skilled in collaboration, communication, and have a deep understanding of Kubernetes fundamentals.

  • Maintain, automate, monitor, and perform Day 2 Operations on our production-grade RedHat OpenShift Container Platform using the OpenShift Virtualization operator.
  • Lead and execute the migration of virtual servers from VMware vSphere to OpenShift Virtualization using tools like virt-v2v and CDI (Containerized Data Importer).
  • Proactively monitor platform health, performance, and capacity. Perform tuning and optimization of nodes, storage, and networks for virtualized workloads.
  • Serve as the highest level of escalation for diagnosing and resolving complex issues related to OpenShift Virtualization, KubeVirt, CNI, and storage.
  • Implement and maintain security best practices for the platform, including hardening, role-based access control (RBAC), and network policies.
  • Design and implement robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for both containerized and virtualized workloads.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Ansible, Terraform, or Golang to manage the platform efficiently.

(Principal Level): Develop the platform strategy, define migration roadmaps, and provide technical leadership and mentorship for senior engineers and other team members.

Requirements
  • 6+ years of infrastructure engineering experience (Senior) or 8+ years (Principal)
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization in production
  • Deep expertise in OpenShift Container Platform (OCP 4.x+) and Kubernetes core concepts
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible Automation Platform, Terraform
  • Hands-on experience with Linux operating systems (RHEL, CentOS) including system administration, kernel tuning, and troubleshooting
  • Solid knowledge of container technology (Docker, CRI-O)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expert-level VMware vSphere knowledge
  • Direct experience migrating VMs from VMware to OpenShift Virtualization
  • Scripting skills (Bash, Python, Go) and Red Hat certifications
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Kibana)
  • Red Hat certifications (e.g., RHCE, CKA, CKAD, Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Virtualization)
