Urban Mobility Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Urban Mobility Specialist to join our efforts in developing sustainable urban environments.

In this role, you will play a key part in designing and implementing strategies for cities to mitigate the negative impacts of urbanization, focusing on green mobility, road safety, and liveable urban spaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and operationalize low emission zone frameworks tailored for specific cities.
  • Conduct baseline assessments of vehicular and industrial emissions in urban areas.
  • Identify vehicle categories, emission thresholds, and compliance strategies for LEZs.
  • Propose monitoring mechanisms, including data analysis and on-ground enforcement.
  • Assess and recommend sustainable mobility solutions, such as EV adoption pathways and public transport electrification.
  • Support roadmap preparation for EV integration across municipal transport operations.
  • Develop policies for encouraging clean fuels, scrappage of end-of-life vehicles, and charging infrastructure development.
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders, including government agencies and transport operators.
  • Conduct consultations with local businesses, citizen groups, and transport operators to ensure smooth LEZ implementation.

Design Analysis and Project Development:

  • Understand site-specific urban challenges and create viable design strategies and proposals for their resolution.

Training and Development:

  • Conduct internal and external workshops to raise awareness and build capacity on street design and road safety principles.
  • Prepare regular progress reports summarizing program activities and achievements.

Qualifications:

  1. Master's degree in environmental science, urban planning or design, or allied disciplines.
  2. Proven experience working on urban spatial and/or environmental issues, preferably in air pollution control, EV policy integration, and urban design.
  3. Excellent research, data analysis, and communication skills.
  4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  5. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  6. Responsiveness to stakeholder needs and requirements.
  7. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and data analysis tools.
  8. Hindi and English fluency is essential.

Desirable Skills:

  1. Experience working on green mobility, LEZ projects, or similar, in India or abroad.
