Job Title: Production Merchandiser

This key role plays a crucial part in ensuring smooth coordination of garment production, quality control, and delivery.

The Production Merchandiser oversees process enhancements, performance monitoring, and coordinates with teams to ensure operational excellence.

  • Product Development:
    • Source and select appropriate fabrics, trims, and accessories for garment production.
    • Coordinate with the Production Manager to develop samples including fabric selection, construction, fit, and quality standards.
    • Review and approve samples to ensure they meet design specifications and quality requirements.
  • Planning and Scheduling:
    • Develop yearly and monthly production plans with timelines based on order requirements, capacity, and lead times for efficient delivery.
    • Plan and allocate resources, including materials and labor, to meet production needs.
    • Ensure materials and resources are available for production, monitor production progress, and proactively address any issues or delays to meet deadlines.
  • Vendor Management:
    • IDentify and select reliable suppliers and manufacturers for consistent quality and timely delivery.
    • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with vendors to secure best value.
    • Evaluate and manage vendor performance to ensure consistent quality and delivery.
  • Costing and Budgeting:
    • Prepare accurate cost estimates for products, including materials, labor, and overhead costs.
    • Manage budgets and track expenses to ensure production costs stay within budget.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising product quality.
    • Collaborate with the finance department and suppliers to negotiate pricing, terms, and discounts to ensure profitability and cost efficiency.
  • Quality Control:
    • Establish quality standards and guidelines for production processes.
    • Conduct regular inspections and quality checks at various stages of production to ensure quality.
    • Work with the production team to implement corrective actions and improve quality.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods to avoid stockouts and overstocking.
    • Ensure timely replenishment of materials to maintain production flow.
    • Manage stock levels to minimize excess inventory and reduce costs.
  • Production Coordination:
    • Coordinate with various production departments to ensure smooth communication and workflow between teams.
    • Efficiently manage production schedules and deadlines to meet customer requirements.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain detailed records of production activities, including orders, deliveries, and inspections.
    • Prepare regular reports on production status, costs, and quality to inform business decisions.
