Job Overview

The Technical Design Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the end-to-end development and delivery of detailed technical drawings, Good For Construction (GFC) packages, and execution documents for coworking fit-out projects. This role ensures error-free, thoroughly detailed working drawings with all specifications clearly indicated, manages version control, and acts as the technical bridge between the design, site, and vendor teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Drawing Development & Management

The Technical Design Manager is responsible for leading the preparation and detailed checking of GFC and working drawings for all projects. The role ensures all drawings are error-free, incorporate required technical details/specifications, and are fit for direct execution without ambiguity.

Maintaining clear and up-to-date drawing lists, tracking versions and revision histories for all ongoing and completed projects is also an essential responsibility.

Execution & Communication Support

The Technical Design Manager explains and hands over detailed drawing sets and specifications to vendors, site teams, and execution partners, ensuring full comprehension. Additionally, the role serves as the technical SPOC for all drawing and detailing queries during project execution; promptly resolves on-site issues and coordination gaps.

Visiting sites as needed to clarify details, resolve discrepancies, and ensure implementation as per intent is another key responsibility.

TAT & Workflow Management

The Technical Design Manager releases GFC and working drawings within agreed turnaround times (TAT), supporting project schedules and minimizing execution delays. Tracking and reporting on drawing delivery milestones, bottlenecks, and outstanding issues is also an essential part of this role.

Specification & Quality Assurance

The Technical Design Manager ensures all necessary specifications, material details, and construction notes are crisply captured on the drawings. Conducting multi-stage checks, peer reviews, and quality audits before releasing drawings for execution is another critical responsibility.

Driving continuous improvement in technical detailing standards, templates, and team knowledge is also a key aspect of this role.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

The Technical Design Manager mentors, trains, and reviews the work of the technical design/drafting team for quality, efficiency, and continuous upskilling. Coordinating closely with the AVP Design, concept/pre-sales teams, QS, MEP, site execution, and vendor partners for seamless technical transitions is also an essential responsibility.

Documentation & Version Control

The Technical Design Manager maintains organized digital archives for drawing sets, revisions, and all technical documentation. Managing drawing issuance logs, approval records, and support audit/compliance processes is also a critical aspect of this role.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in architecture, Interior Design, or related technical field, 10+ years of experience in detailed/interior technical design for commercial/coworking fit-outs, and advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other technical drawing & management tools are essential qualifications for this role.
