Cloud Solutions Architect

We are seeking a Cloud Solutions Architect to play a pivotal role in establishing and leading the development of a Cloud Center of Excellence environment leveraging AWS technologies.

• This position will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud infrastructure, ensuring its security, scalability, and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of cloud technologies, architecture principles, and best practices, combined with strong leadership and communication skills.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Troubleshoots and resolves AWS service issues across development, testing, and production environments
2. Manages AWS services, working with internal service groups as required to ensure system availability meets project requirements
3. Designing, building, and deploying cloud solutions using various cloud services and platforms (AWS)
4. Providing guidance and technical expertise on cloud adoption, migration, and optimization
5. Develop scripts to automate systems administration and monitoring activities
6. Provide technical support on AWS-related issues, monitor solutions, and implement appropriate strategies to eliminate performance bottlenecks
7. Works with Infrastructure and Product teams on issues related to AWS design and architecture and assists with Proof-of-Concept development and testing
8. Works with peers within and beyond the Operations team to define and characterize complex technology or process problems and develop & implement new solutions
9. As needed, assist with the development of Operations white papers, proposals, and other documentation
10. Keeping up to date with the latest cloud technologies, trends, and best practices

Qualifications

Education:

• BA/BS in Computer Science or related field
• AWS Cloud Practitioner certification, AWS SysOps Administrator Certification, Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or equivalent AWS Cloud Engineering/Architecture experience

Required Skills

Below are the key skills required for this position:

• AWS Cloud Practitioner certification, AWS SysOps Administrator Certification, Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or equivalent AWS Cloud Engineering/Architecture experience
• 3+ years of AWS administration experience, including API Gateway, S3, ECS, EKS, Fargate, EC2, Lambda, WAF, and CloudTrail
• 3+ years deploying Infrastructure as Code using tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform
• 3+ years of experience are necessary, including designing and implementing AWS solutions
• Experience on cloud architecture patterns, design principles, and best practices
• Working experience (intermediate) of networking concepts (routing, switching, firewalls, etc.)
• Ability to exercise independent judgment in driving technical problems to resolution
• Excellent troubleshooting and root cause-analysis skills
• Excellent working knowledge of Windows and Linux server technologies
• Experience working with third party service providers such as vendors and internal support groups
• Ability to plan and implement change for enterprise systems and adhere to standard change management processes

Preferred Skills

Below are the preferred skills for this position:

• Experience working in an outsourced/managed services environment with some client-facing responsibilities (e.g. technical discussions with the client)
• Familiarity with WebLogic or equivalent application server platforms
• Familiarity with Atlassian (Gerrit, Confluence, Artifactory, Jenkins) and other DevOps tools
• Strong Working knowledge of Local and Wide area networking technologies
• Ability to exercise independent judgment in driving technical problems to resolution
• Experience support fast-paced development environments utilizing Agile and DevOps methodologies
• Ability to communicate complex technical information to less technical staff (e.g. CGI management and client staff)
• Strong understanding of broader technology context (e.g. network and database technologies)
• Ability to mentor other team members in areas of technical expertise
