Job Description

We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Manager to lead our remote team of engineers. As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of talented engineers in your time zone, developing their skills through coaching, mentoring, and hands-on career development.

You will set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, management, and external stakeholders. You will also be an active part of the leadership team, collaborating with other leaders to drive business growth and success.

Our ideal candidate has good experience in leading modern, agile software development practices. They are knowledgeable about software development and have a track record of mentoring, developing, and growing people.

The successful candidate will be passionate about building clean web service APIs to support both CLI and web frontend clients, using Python (and optionally Golang). They will engage with many other teams at Canonical, as well as the open-source community and commercial partners.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Good experience in leading modern, agile software development practices
  • Experience in forming a healthy, collaborative engineering culture in line with company values
  • Demonstrative experience of being a role model for sound engineering principles and directly contributing toward team goals
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events
  • Prior experience as a software engineer or technical leader
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
