Electromagnetic Effects Specialist for Wind Turbine Design

The core business of Vestas comprises the design, manufacturing, sale, marketing, and maintenance of wind turbines. We are currently seeking an experienced Lead Electromagnetic Effects Engineer to join our team in Chennai, India.
About the RoleWe are responsible for ensuring that our wind turbines meet the highest standards of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), lightning protection, and internal power quality (IPQ). As a Lead Electromagnetic Effects Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining strategies, requirements, technologies, and concepts for our wind turbines within these areas.
Your primary responsibilities will include leading and facilitating electromagnetic effects activities in product-specific projects, acting as a subject matter expert within EMC guiding design teams to deliver compliant designs, and ensuring alignment and generic solutions for all E3 areas across all areas of our products.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain functional strategies and technology roadmaps for various E3 areas, including: EMC, Lightning Protection, EMF, RED, Low Voltage Protection, Internal Power Quality, and Internal Earthing and Turbine Grounding
- Provide in-depth analysis of standard interpretation for stakeholders, customers, and certification bodies
- Provide guidelines for design, verification, and documentation needed for component and system design and certification
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- At least 3 years of experience within at least one of the E3 topics, preferably from the wind industry
- Experience in requirement management, system design, test specifications, root cause analysis, and certification
- Solid communication skills with great stakeholder management abilities
- Capable of working in a large international organization
- Methodical and structured approach to work
- Able to balance attention to detail with the ability to see the big picture
- Technical leadership skills, including stakeholder management, coordination, planning, reporting, and knowledge sharing
- Self-motivated, committed, and team-oriented individual
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
The estimated salary for this position is ₹1,200,000 - ₹1,800,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. Vestas offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
