Job Description

This is a leadership role that oversees the design, development and implementation of software solutions in a team environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and mentor a team through all stages of the software development lifecycle.

The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding the team towards delivering high-quality software solutions on time and within budget.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with translating business requirements into technical ones.
  • Coordinate and lead design initiatives and reviews.
  • Meet with stakeholders to review design options and provide high-level estimates.
  • Translate selected designs into detailed tasks, dependencies and estimates.
  • Ensure that developers understand the scope and approach of their tasks.
  • Coordinate and lead code reviews.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to support the development team.
  • Monitor, encourage and enhance best practices in development and methodology.
  • Take hands-on ownership of pressing technical risks and issues.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong technical expertise with Java/J2EE Design & Development experience.
  • Well-developed programming and testing skills in Java/J2EE environments.
  • A thorough understanding of object-oriented paradigm and design best practices.
  • Expertise in developing enterprise-scale web applications using Struts, Spring and Hibernate.
  • Experience with Web Services frameworks such as CXF or Spring WS.
  • Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Exceptional comprehension of requirements and ability to translate them into design.
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills.
  • Incident identification and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive with a willingness to 'go beyond' and strive for excellence.
  • Knowledge of other web frameworks and/or programming languages is a plus.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience on medium to large-scale software development projects using Java.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in developing enterprise-scale web applications.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience using Web Services frameworks.
