Head of Intellectual Property Strategy

The ideal candidate will work on a wide range of Intellectual Property matters within the department. This includes Product Clearance, Patent Filing & Prosecution, Patent Litigation, and Licensing / Due Diligence, TM clearance and registering for EU, US and APAC region.
This position will closely collaborate with Portfolio, R&D scientists, Regulatory Affairs etc. The tasks include drafting patents, freedom to operate reports, infringement and validity analysis, risk assessment and mitigation strategies
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and evaluate third-party scientific and patent publications
- Provide IP-related inputs to support legal agreements and negotiations
- Partner with other legal and business functions to provide strategic advice and strategy in connection with strategic M&A transactions, licensing agreements, research collaborations, adverse proceedings, and litigation activities
- Manage patent, trademark, copyright and related issues
- Maintain appropriate record architecture and content of inventions, know-how, trade secrets and registered intellectual property
- Educate management and scientists in the Organization on current best practices for the protection of inventions and intellectual property
A PhD or post-graduate degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Sciences or Pharmaceutical Sciences is required. At least 13+ years of work experience in a reputable Global Pharmaceutical company with team handling skills is essential. Experience in product IP clearances, patent drafting and prosecution, and ancillary areas in a pharmaceutical organization is highly desirable. Litigation, litigation support, and licensing experience are also valuable assets. Additionally, fluency in English, both written and spoken, is necessary.
