A leading role within our Data Warehouse team, this Principal Data Engineer position will oversee a team of Sr. Data Engineers and be responsible for proposing architecture, resolving complex situations, and data modeling. You will interact directly with clients to gather requirements and develop a holistic roadmap. Your task will also involve identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies.

The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in software development, focusing on backend and data engineering. They should possess 10+ years of overall experience in data engineering, with 4+ years of leading teams. A strong understanding of Python, JVM, and Shell Scripting is necessary, along with production experience. Experience in cloud-native data-intensive applications, particularly Amazon Web Services, is essential.

You will be expected to have hands-on experience with Databricks, dbt, and architecting workflow management systems using Airflow. Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes is also required. Building and maintaining Spark applications, fundamental understanding of Parquet and Delta Lake file formats, and proficiency in IaC tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation are must-haves. Experience with observability systems and building CI/CD processes is beneficial.

Soft skills include leading a team of Senior Engineers, client communication, and providing constructive feedback during code reviews. A service-oriented mindset towards internal customers and a focus on business value over engineering interest are also crucial.

As a key member of our Data Warehouse team, you will drive innovation and technical excellence in data engineering. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders to define technical roadmaps, develop scalable solutions, and implement efficient data processing pipelines.
