Job Summary

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with clients and class societies for basic design of new buildings and major repairs projects, ensuring efficient collaboration and timely project delivery.
  • Preliminary general arrangements and technical specifications are prepared to meet the client's requirements and comply with relevant regulations.
  • Naval architecture calculations, including weight, stability, scantling, resistance, powering, propulsion, tonnage, and hydrostatics, are performed to ensure the designed vessels meet the required standards.
  • Class approval plans are developed and presented to class societies for all projects, ensuring seamless execution and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of class rules, IMO, and flag state authority regulations, as well as SOLAS, Lloyd's, DNV, ABS, and IRS, to ensure compliance and minimize risks.
  • Utilize naval architectural software, such as MAXSURF, DELFT ship, NAPA, or GHS, to streamline design processes and improve accuracy.
  • Apply sound knowledge in naval architecture to solve design-related problems effectively and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with a team of experienced naval architects to make informed decisions related to engineering and design in projects.
  • Monitor project schedules and identify gaps for necessary training to maintain high levels of expertise.
  • Participate in all enquiries and contribute to the decision-making process to drive project success.
  • Communicate effectively with international clients and manage tasks efficiently.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Hold a degree in Naval Architecture or Master's in Naval Architecture or Ocean Engineering, Ocean Structures, or Ocean Technology.
  • A minimum of 5-6 years of relevant work experience in ship design, shipbuilding, and offshore projects is required.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail are essential.
  • A willingness to continue developing technical knowledge and skills is necessary for career growth.
