Job Overview

This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with the design team and clients in the field of naval architecture.

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, organizational abilities, and leadership qualities to guide a team of professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with clients and classification societies for basic design of new buildings and major repairs projects.
  • Prepare preliminary general arrangement (GA) and technical specifications.
  • Perform naval architecture calculations, including weight, stability, scantling, resistance, powering, propulsion, tonnage, hydrostatics, etc.
  • Develop class approval plans and coordinate with classification societies for all projects.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant class rules, IMO regulations, flag state authority regulations, and industry standards such as SOLAS, Lloyd's, DNV, ABS, and IRS.
Technical Requirements
  • Proficiency in naval architectural software, such as MAXSURF, DELFTship, NAPA, or GHS.
  • Sound knowledge of naval architecture principles and ability to solve design-related problems.
  • Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) for structural design and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for hydrodynamic analysis is an added advantage.
  • Ability to lead and guide a team of naval architects.
  • Decision-making skills for engineering and design projects, with a focus on maintaining project schedules.
Requirements
  • A degree in naval architecture, ocean engineering, ocean structures, or ocean technology, or a master's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum 5-6 years of relevant work experience in ship design, shipbuilding, or offshore projects.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.
