Job Summary:

The Heavy Equipment Maintenance Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of Heavy Earth Moving Machinery (HEMM). This role requires a thorough understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, as well as hands-on experience with heavy equipment used in construction, mining, and related industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and Repair:
    • Schedule maintenance and preventive maintenance are performed on HEMM.
    • Diagnose faults and undertake timely repairs to minimize downtime.
    • Ensure all repair work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Inspection and Troubleshooting:
    • Conduct regular inspections of machinery to identify issues.
    • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work.
    • Prepare reports on machinery performance, service schedules, and repair activities.
    • Provide feedback and recommendations for improvements.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations.
    • Ensure machinery is compliant with relevant safety standards.
    • Conduct safety checks and risk assessments.
  • Technical Support:
    • Provide technical support and guidance to operators and other team members.
    • Participate in training programs for operators and junior maintenance staff.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Monitor and manage spare parts inventory.
    • Ensure timely ordering of necessary parts and supplies.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
    • Relevant certifications in machinery maintenance and repair are a plus.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the maintenance and repair of HEMM.
    • Hands-on experience with machinery such as excavators, drilling machines, bulldozers, wheel loaders, and dump trucks.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
    • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Regular exposure to heavy machinery and mining sites.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects.
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions and potentially remote locations.
  • Availability for emergency callouts and overtime as needed.
