System Verification and Validation Specialist

The role of System Verification and Validation (SVV) plays a crucial part in ensuring the quality and reliability of complex systems, particularly within the aerospace industry.

  • Analyse control sub-system requirements to verify the integrated 'black box' control system, excluding component or software verification.
  • Allocate requirements against test vehicles defined in the verification test plan.
  • Allocate system requirements to Test Subjects and Test Groups (test planning).
  • Develop and review tests that will provide evidence to prove that the sub-system requirements are satisfied.
  • Execute testing in remote test rigs.
  • Analyse verification test results against requirements and determine results against Test Plan definitions.
  • Conduct targeted interactive testing to support Problem Investigation and demonstration of problem resolution.
  • Capture observations and work with Control System Designers to record identified issues in configured problem reports.
  • Produce reports where required to document the work carried out.

This position requires a working knowledge of system/software requirements, requirements analysis, hardware architecture, databus communications, system interfaces, system architecture, and embedded software testing at system integration level.

A key experience/qualification for this role includes:

  • Working knowledge of system/software requirements, requirements analysis, hardware architecture, databus communications, system interfaces, system architecture, and embedded software testing at system integration level.
  • A working appreciation of associated engineering disciplines.
  • An ability to interpret test results and provide an informed opinion or conclusion as to the outcome of the analysis, including understanding of measurement uncertainty.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage tasks to completion, ensuring relevant areas of the business are appropriately informed.
  • Skilled at working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment or as a sole contributor on projects.
  • Test script development.
  • Black box testing.

Relevant tools include:

  • PTC Integrity or similar tool for configuration management and change control.
  • Matlab / Simulink, SCADE or other model based development tools.
  • Reqtify or similar traceability tools.
  • Standard Microsoft packages – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
