Chief Structural Designer

Our ideal candidate will possess strong structural analysis and design skills, with a focus on commercial buildings.
- Perform comprehensive structural assessments to ensure the stability of commercial structures under seismic conditions.
- Develop 2D/3D models and drawings in Revit and CAD to optimize design performance.
- Utilise modular framing systems for secondary structures, selecting and detailing standard welded sections to enhance fabrication and installation efficiency.
- Closely coordinate with hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical services teams to resolve interfaces, penetrations, loads, and maintenance/access requirements.
- Prepare detailed design reports, specifications, calculation packages, BOM's, and RFI responses to support project delivery.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in structural engineering, preferably in the Australian commercial sector.
- Demonstrated expertise in seismic analysis and design.
- Proven track record of integrating structural designs with hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical services.
- Hands-on experience with Revit and 2D/3D drafting/BIM systems for structural documentation.
- Ability to apply modular framing systems for secondary structures and detail standard welded sections.
- Strong knowledge of Australian building codes and standards (e.g., NCC; AS/NZS 1170 incl. earthquake; AS 4100, AS 3600, AS/NZS 4600, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
- Structural design (steel, concrete, secondary/supporting systems).
- Seismic design and detailing.
- BIM coordination and clash resolution in Revit; model federation and standards compliance.
- Detailing of standard welded sections, platework, and connections for fabrication.
- Interface management with mechanical equipment loads, supports, vibration, and maintenance clearances.
- Preparation of specifications, reports, schedules, and take-offs.
