
Medical Workplace Specialist

This is a key role that plays a crucial part in ensuring the health and well-being of employees in our organization.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Develop, implement and sustain processes of Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene aligned with national and international standards, improving our health management system to achieve superior performance.
- Day-to-day management of the Occupational Health Centre (OHC) along with paramedics, including identification of occupational health hazards across various shop floors.
- Define fitness criteria by scheduling and executing pre-employment medical examinations, periodic medical examinations, specific medical examinations, biological monitoring, etc. Analyze health monitoring data and identify groups of employees requiring follow-up.
- Design and implement intervention programs for identified health risks. Correlate health monitoring data with industrial hygiene data and make an action plan to reduce exposure.
- Identify notifiable diseases as per the Factories Act schedule II.
- Conduct health and wellness awareness programs on topics such as lifestyle diseases, occupational health hazards, ergonomics, hearing conservation, job stress management, indoor air quality ventilation, respiratory protection, HIV/TB/Malaria management at the workplace, and PPEs importance.
- Carry out ergonomic studies at operating locations within the plant and offices.
- Establish First Aid Emergency Care/Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) medical programs to provide better care for employees and customers if needed.
- Support major health incident investigations, audits, and legal queries for occupational health management.
- Coordinate with stakeholders like statutory bodies, professional bodies, Medico-Legal Advisory Services, vendors, group companies, hospitals, and doctors for effective institutionalization of health programs.
- Provide emergency care to employees in case of workplace-related injuries, illnesses, or exposures.
- Promote Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene through workplace hygiene inspections, submitting reports with observations and recommendations.
- Conduct regular OHC audits.
- Manage medicine at the OHC.
- Assess risk from hazardous substances in conjunction with the Safety and Environment Officer.
- Monitor workplace hazards, heat stress, noise evaluation, dust, illumination study, chemical monitoring, etc.
- Conduct periodical food and water analysis according to Bureau of Indian Standards.
- Responsible for purchasing medicines and other materials according to approved procedures and policies.
- Develop, implement, and sustain self-assessment processes, identifying gaps and developing roadmaps to fill them according to organizational requirements.
