Business Development Lead
Job Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled Business Development Lead to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building and scaling sales functions, with expertise in parametric insurance products and climate risk management.
- The successful candidate will design and implement a go-to-market strategy for the parametric insurance vertical, identifying and converting new business opportunities, customer segments, and revenue streams.
- They will build a robust sales pipeline to ensure consistent deal closures, forge partnerships with insurers and reinsurance firms, and generate, qualify, and nurture leads.
- Cross-functional collaboration with product, actuarial, tech, and operations teams will be essential in delivering custom parametric insurance solutions.
- Market trend analysis, weather, and climate risk data monitoring will inform strategic decisions, as will competitor offerings and government policy shifts.
- Representing the company at industry forums, conferences, and exhibitions will be a key aspect of this role.
- The Business Development Lead will mentor a lean sales team to scale operations, deliver performance reports, revenue forecasts, and business insights to senior leadership.
To succeed in this challenging role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Agriculture, Climate Science, or a related field.
- At least 6 years of experience in business development, preferably in parametric or climate-risk insurance, reinsurance, or rural financial services.
- Demonstrated experience in setting up and scaling a sales function from 0 to 100.
- An in-depth understanding of parametric insurance products, climate data, and risk triggers.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- An entrepreneurial mindset with strong execution skills and adaptability in dynamic environments.
