Job Title: Internal Auditor Role

About the Position:

The internal audit function plays a critical role in evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes within an organization. In this position, you will be responsible for assessing the adequacy of internal controls, identifying areas for improvement, and providing recommendations to enhance operational efficiency and mitigate risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Audit Execution: Execute robust internal audit engagements and testing and monitoring activities in line with the annual internal audit program, ensuring compliance with established standards and guidelines.
  • Control Evaluation: Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and identify deficiencies or weaknesses in processes, systems, or practices, recommending improvements to strengthen overall control environment.
  • Audit Planning: Prepare tailored audit engagement plans that align with the specific risks and objectives of each audit engagement, ensuring that all relevant stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout the process.
  • Reporting & Communication: Document audit findings, observations, and recommendations in clear and concise reports, presenting results to management and stakeholders in a professional and timely manner.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with management to implement corrective actions and improvements based on audit recommendations, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and transparency.
  • Follow-up & Resolution: Monitor and track the status of audit findings and management responses to ensure timely resolution and closure, maintaining open communication channels throughout the process.
  • Team Support & Guidance: Provide support and guidance to colleagues within the internal audit team and across the organization on risk management and control-related matters, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices.
  • Special Projects & Initiatives: Participate in special projects, investigations, or initiatives as assigned by the head of internal audit, leveraging expertise to drive business value and improve organizational performance.

Requirements:

  • Qualification: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field, with studying towards professional qualifications (IIA CIA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalents) being an added advantage.
  • Experience: Twelve months plus of progressive internal audit experience, demonstrating a strong understanding of internal audit principles, methodologies, and industry best practices.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong technical skills, including proficiency in audit software, data analytics tools, and Microsoft Office Suite, with ability to learn new tools and technologies as needed.
  • Communication Skill: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with ability to articulate complex ideas and recommendations clearly and persuasively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Digital Proficiency: Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms to facilitate collaboration, communication, and knowledge sharing among team members and stakeholders.
  • Professional Integrity: Commitment to upholding professional standards of ethics, integrity, and confidentiality, adhering to established codes of conduct and maintaining the highest level of professionalism in all interactions.
