Job Overview

As a seasoned security expert, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our enterprise's digital assets. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain and enhance our Web Application Firewall (WAF) configurations to ensure optimal security posture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and refine WAF configurations to adhere to best practices across the organization.
  • Develop and deploy baseline security rule sets for WAF, leveraging industry-recognized standards and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with application teams to onboard WAF services, providing expert guidance on rule deployments, log analysis, and threat detection.
  • Work closely with Cyber Defense stakeholders to operationalize WAF alerting and develop runbooks to support incident response efforts.
  • Effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring seamless collaboration and understanding.
  • Contribute to other network security projects, such as IDS/IPS, network DLP, and SSL inspection, through close collaboration with security and network engineers.
  • Engage with ISRM stakeholders to ensure alignment between security initiatives and stakeholder expectations.
  • Provide expertise to application teams on developing rate limiting and bot management rules.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Network Security/Network Engineering.
  • At least 7 years of relevant professional experience, with a strong focus on application layer security.
  • Deep understanding of OWASP Top 10 and experience testing common injection vulnerabilities, including XSS, XXE, SQL Injection, and OS Command Injection.
  • Knowledge of Denial of Service (DoS) and Distributed DoS attacks at the Network, Transport, and Application layers.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills, with proficiency in languages like Python and PowerShell.
  • Proven experience in maintaining enterprise WAF capabilities using providers like Cloudflare, Mod Security, or cloud-native services like AWS WAF.
  • In-depth knowledge of security principles, protocols, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in analyzing large datasets using tools like Splunk, Datadog, or other SIEM/logging technologies.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and/or OCI.
  • Ability to work independently and drive projects to successful conclusions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience testing less common injection vulnerabilities, such as SSRF, SSTI, Insecure Deserialization, LDAP Injection, NoSQL Injection, and Expression Language Injection.
  • Experience with configuration management using git-based source control.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM, or Bicep.
  • Knowledge of other network security technologies, including IDS/IPS, NextGen Firewalls, network DLP, and SSL inspection capabilities.
  • Understanding of network transport protocols and services, including TCP/IP, syslog, DNS, VLANs, VRF, SFTP, SSH, PKI, etc.
  • Unix/Linux knowledge, with the ability to operate in a Linux environment.
