Special Music Educator Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Special Music Educator to join our team and contribute to the development of music education for individuals with special needs. Our school provides a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and adults with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, and Down Syndrome.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering music lessons that cater to varying learning styles and abilities. This will involve utilizing assistive technologies, visual aids, instruments, and alternative communication methods to support student participation and engagement.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver music lessons that accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Use adaptive techniques to support student participation and engagement.
  • Encourage self-expression and communication through music.
  • Collaborate with occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other specialists to integrate therapeutic goals into musical activities.
  • Assess student progress using tailored benchmarks and maintain accurate records.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Education or related field.
  • 3-7 years of experience working with children in mainstream or special schools.
  • Teaching qualification or experience in special education (preferred).
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and adaptive music education.
  • Ability to play an instrument and facilitate group music singing.
  • Mastery of Light songs and Bhajans in Tamil.
  • Tamil language proficiency is mandatory.
