Mathematics Research Specialist

We are seeking a Mathematics Research Specialist to assist in fine-tuning and evaluating large language models (LLMs) with strong mathematical and analytical backgrounds.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in solving complex math problems, including multi-step algebra or logic questions. The role involves determining the number of real symmetric matrices of rank 2 whose entries are only 0 or 1, and how many subsets of a set exist such that the characteristic vector has Hamming weight exactly 3.

As a contributor to this research-focused initiative, you may be asked to complete tasks designed to find model weaknesses and improve training and evaluation workflows.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Academic Background: PhD/Postdoc in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills to solve advanced math problems with clear and structured reasoning.
  • Effective communication skills to explain complex topics and provide feedback with precision.
  • Research independence to work independently in a remote research environment.
  • Technical setup: Access to a reliable computer and internet setup.
